The Digital Negative

What exactly is a digital negative??

You will see that digital negatives are included in most collections that we offer.  With this, I have found that most folks do not understand the difference between a digital negative and a final image ready for printing. I am going to do my best to school you on the difference.  I am a visual person, so we will start with that.

When thinking of the digital negative, think of back in the film days.  A film negative was something small and set aside just {in-case} you needed it down the road for whatever reason.   It was a negative straight out of the camera.  (SOOC)

That is the same concept of what a digital negative is with your collections.  It is an image SOOC, meaning absolutely no processing has been done to the image.  We understand how important it is to have you images on backup for safe keeping just {in-case} something was to happen years down the road and this is why we offer the digital negatives.  The digital negative is not in place of your album or enlargements.  They are a bonus with the digital age.

What the digitial negative is {not}…

It is not a presentable file that you would want to have enlarged and showcase to your friends, family and grandchildren.

It has not been carefully processed in the digital darkroom to the allow the image to become it’s true potential.

It is not the completed image that the photographer envisioned when capturing the image.

Let’s chat about the final image

What IS a final image…

A final image is completed with lots of TLC.

A final image has had hours of work and thought invested into it.

A final image has been processed with color tones in the digital darkroom.

A final image has had the blemishes and any other items you wish, removed.

A final image is an image that has reached the potential the photographer saw when capturing the image.

A final image is an image that you will see in your albums and your gallery wrap canvases.

Every image that you see on our website and this blog are final images.
