Picture this…chatting it up with a friend and listening about the stories of “outfits” her daughter picks for the day…and secretly thanking the lord that MY daughter is NOT into having opinions about what she wears. Although it is super cute when they help in the process and I get to see what OTHER kids come up with in all their creativity and showmanship of expressing their independence. Like for instance when I saw a little boy going into the store with superman pants, a sponge bob shirt, cowboy boots and …wait for it…wait for it…a FOOTBALL helmet. Yes a football helmet. And not in his hand, but one his head. OR when I sat in the barber shop as we regularly do for hours on the weekend waiting for Tony to get his hair cut. This little girl sat next to us in ruby red slippers like Dorothys and a princess dress. And no my friends it was not last month. It was August.
Fast Forward two weeks to the day when I was chatting it up…my little Miss Independence is having everything to do with picking out her clothes. errrrggggg!!!! But I have come up with a solution to help with my need to be cute, fashionable, and stylish and her need to make decisions. So I give her choices. And for the most part we can get out the door looking somewhat put together.
I was soooooooooo super duper happy this morning! It was somewhat cool outside she could finally wear this cute little cable knit sweater I picked up from the Gap. So we were getting dressed and she loved everything we picked. Picture it…Soft mauve leggings with a little detail at the bottom, a t shirt jersey dress with fall color stripes from the Gap and that darling long-sleeve chocolate brown cable knit sweater that buttons with one large button that stops just at the chest. She looked cute to boot. ahhhh…something accomplished and it wasn’t even 7AM. YES!!
THEN….people…then…I HAD this vision of her little feet getting cold and mentioned socks..errrrr..socks what the heck was I thinking..she never wears socks..i don’t even know what is in that drawer….and that is when it happened…she pulls out THE-HOT-PINK-SOCKS! no…no..no..no..no..no…hot pink really…and she was not having anything do with not not wearing those hot pink socks…she even justified it because her leggings are “pink”..i tried to explain that they are mauve NOT pink, much less hot pink…
then the whole outfit went down the drain with the red crocs came into play…what to do!
