The days are longer and nights are cooler. I love this time of year. More sunlight makes me feel like I have way more time to do things. And time do things out of the heat!
Often we find ourselves outside with M at the park, looking for dogs, counting cars, or riding bikes. (more like she walks and we carry her bike..more on that later) I really enjoy the walks back home. The sun is setting, the clouds take on a whole nother form, and the sky is fabulous.
I receive alot of comments/questions on post processing and manual settings I use for images. So I thought I would take an image of the sky and show some before and afters.
This image is from just another day while we were out on the streets.
Here is the before straight out of the camera (SOOC). I metered for the sky to get the silhouette of the sky line. Normally I use exposure compensation but this time I did not.
Canon 5D.. 70mm lens…ISO 320…SS 1/800…2.8 fstop

Looks pretty good, but I wanted more emphasis on the sky..I felt the sky line was to involved in the image. Plus the car on the right bugged me as well as the light whole in the middle.
Sooo here is the after….

I cropped the image to reduce the sky line effect, cloned the light whole (you could of painted it since it is black) Then since I was already playing with it..I added a little bit of color pop by playing with the hue and saturation. My goal with almost all images when post processing is to only enhance the image not to totally change the image. Normally I do minimal post processing to my images. Simple curves and levels for the most part.
Then of course I had to do my black and white conversations. Love love love it in black and white. Again curves and levels and desaturation.
There you have it..easy as pie..less the one minute and the image looks fabulous!
Hope this helps a little….If you would like to see more before and afters leave me a comment! and say bring it on!!
